Role Summary
The Certified Coder will play a key role in supporting accurate and compliant coding for a variety of clinical services, including procedural, surgical, and hospital-based encounters. This position is ideal for experienced coders who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and are looking to grow their expertise in specialty coding.
You’ll be part of a segmented team of coders, with opportunities to cross-train in anesthesia and endoscopy coding. This role offers remote flexibility, structured support, and the chance to contribute to a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for procedures, hospital charges, and other services.
- Research complex coding scenarios to ensure compliance and maintain high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support accurate billing and reimbursement practices.
- Participate in coding audits, continuing education, and training initiatives.
- Maintain certification and stay current on coding guidelines and regulatory updates.
- Respond to internal requests for coding clarification and documentation support.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards (approximately 80 claims/day).
Key Requirements
- 2–3+ years of coding experience in a clinical or specialty setting.
- CPC certification required.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Experience with Evaluation and Management (E&M) coding.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and practice management systems; ECW preferred.
- Gastroenterology or procedural coding experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with Provation Apex is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; degree is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
