Indirect Tax Manager

The Indirect Tax Manger leads and manages our client’s daily activity, as well as long term Indirect Tax reporting and compliance. This individual will develop and implement effective tax planning, drive process improvement, while minimizing costs to department and company, amongst other duties assigned by the Indirect Tax Leader

Management and Development:

    1. Regulates timely compliance with all reporting requirements.
      • Reviews returns and workpapers submitted by specialists
    2. Strategy Development:
      • Increase reporting and Deadline Management
      • Process Improvements, implementation, and Performance Metrics
    3. Oversees effective use of Sales and Use Tax Software
      • Responsible for analysis, transactional research, and compiled reports from all software platforms.
    4. Leads State and Local Tax Audits and appeals
    5. Establishes process and manages outcomes for all new deadlines generated from new locations and entities.
    6. Provide mentorship, support, and training of Tax Department Indirect Staff and oversee operation efficiencies

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and review written correspondence with Tax agencies and company offices and affiliates.
  2. Subject Matter Expert       
    •  Working knowledge of Business Operations related to Tax, in the following fields:
      • Sales & Use
      • Property and Business
      • Gross receipts, B&O, Healthcare Tax, and misc.
    • Act as a guide during complex tax inquiries
    • Maintain extensive knowledge of property tax classification and trending factors in various jurisdictions
    • Provides summary research information within requested formats
    • Utilize working knowledge of tac regulations and taxability decision matric to perform detailed audits

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and at least 5 years of experience related to Indirect Tax
  2. Effective leadership, coaching and mentoring experience, with exceptional time management and prioritization abilities
  3. Strong strategic mindset, with a systemic approach to implementation
  4. Experience or ability to learn complex tax software including: Thompson Reuters Compliance, Epic, and the Oracle Cloud ERP Environment
