 Job Description: Program Manager – Finance Projects

 
The role of an IT Program Manager with a background in finance requires a unique blend of skills, as it involves overseeing technology projects within a financial context. This position involves managing multiple IT projects and initiatives that support the financial goals and operations of a company. Ability to communicate with senior leadership level a key skill.
 
 
Day to Day Responsibilities of this Program Manager include:
 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with project managers and senior leadership
  • Manage interdependencies within projects under your program
  • Ability to manage long term strategic goals of overall program
  • Support project managers and program leadership, ensure alignment
  • Provide executive summaries and raise issues to leadership across program
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban.
  • The ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Identify potential program level risks and implement mitigation strategies

 
Finance Experience:

  • In-depth understanding of financial principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Ability to manage IT projects that directly impact financial processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Ensure that IT projects are aligned with financial objectives and deliver measurable business value.
  • Knowledge of financial processes, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and financial risk management.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards, as well as how IT systems impact financial operations.
  • Ability to manage IT projects that directly impact financial processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Ensure that IT projects are aligned with financial objectives and deliver measurable business value.

 
Technical Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure, systems, and software development life cycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Understanding of IT security, data privacy, and compliance considerations.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams and understand their requirements, constraints, and dependencies.

 
Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities to guide and motivate project teams.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills to address project challenges and make timely decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to changing project requirements and priorities.

 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field
  • PMP Certified
  • Proficient in Smartsheet
  • Proficient in Visio
