Project Engineer – Site Design

As a Project Engineer in our Site Design group, you will lead and manage civil design projects, ensuring high quality and efficiency. You will utilize your expertise to plan and execute site development, collaborate with a dynamic team, and mentor junior staff. Your role will include working with regulators, securing project approvals, and delivering innovative solutions that enhance communities. Your Primary Focus
Project Management
- Lead civil design for site development, water resources, and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Work with the Project Manager to initiate and execute projects from proposal to completion.
- Achieve project success, adhering to work plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Oversee design team and ensure quality and efficiency.
Technical Expertise
- Plan, layout, and refine construction/redevelopment sites.
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Oversee stormwater management systems, green infrastructure, and conveyance.
- Interface with regulators and secure project approvals.
- Collaborate with design and field teams to ensure smooth construction.
- Direct public bidding process and manage contractor relationships.
- Ensure designs meet all regulatory standards and best practices.
- Bring innovative solutions to client communities.
- Tailor deliverables to each community’s specific needs.
Teamwork and Leadership
- Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, planners, and technicians.
- Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to organizational growth.
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Tennesse PE license is required.
- 5 – 10 years of experience or more in Site Design, Civil Engineering, or Land Development.
- Design experience with site grading including ADA compliance, water main, sanitary sewer, parking lots, site balancing, roads, pathways, and stormwater systems.
- Experience preparing construction documents including plan drawings, specifications, bid documents, and cost opinions
- Ability to successfully engage and comply with the requirements set forth by governmental agencies on behalf of the client.
- Experience with state agencies and/or TDOT specifications are a plus.
- Must be able to work well with clients, staff, regulators, elected officials, contractors, and consultants.
