Job Description: Tax Compliance Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Tax Compliance Specialist to manage sales and use tax compliance, property tax compliance, and assist with various tax-related tasks. The ideal candidate will ensure adherence to state and local tax regulations, support tax audits, and contribute to the month-end closing process. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage sales and use tax compliance, including reviewing invoices and preparing monthly returns.
- Ensure compliance with state and local tax laws and regulations.
- Reconcile fixed asset schedules for property tax compliance.
- Research and interpret tax statutes and regulations.
- Assist with state income and sales tax audits, and manage business licenses.
- Prepare journal entries for tax transactions and reconcile relevant balance sheet accounts.
- Support special projects, including developing processes for unclaimed property.
- Perform various month-end closing tasks, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of GAAP principles and tax compliance processes.
- 3+ years of experience in sales and use tax compliance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (V-lookups, Pivot Tables).
- Experience with ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics AX, SAP, or Oracle HFM (a plus).
- Familiarity with STO and SureTax systems (a plus).
