About the Opportunity:
  This role is open due to the current Senior Accountant moving over to a FP&A role and they will be backfilling this role.  The goal is to hire someone who wants to grow in the role, be involved with the business and make an impact.  
A leading manufacturer of commercial, military, law enforcement and air-rescue helicopters. 

SUMMARY
Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Maintain or oversee the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. Manage the monthly close process and manage the chart of accounts and general ledger.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compile and analyze financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly journal entries and reports.
  • Prepare balance sheet and profit and loss statements, statement of cash flows and other accounting schedules and reports.
  • Maintain Fixed Assets Ledger and subsequent depreciation schedules.
  • Record, classify and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Prepare and organize supporting documentation for audit purpose.
  • Prepare journal entries, maintains and reconcile ledger accounts.
  • Maintain regular and detailed interaction with A/P, AR and Manufacturing Cost functions for analytical and process support.
  • Help with filing municipal and state tax reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Experience in month end close process adhering to established deadlines.
  • Experience with government contracts and FAR regulations.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
  • JD Edwards System experience and/or similar ERP system experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
  • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team is required.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite is required.
  • Access to Export Control Information is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or University in Accounting or equivalent field of study; and at least 4-6 years related experience and/or training preferably in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in month in close process adhering to established deadlines.
