Role Summary

The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst will manage day-to-day cost accounting functions, providing accurate and timely information on costing, pricing, and resource allocation. This role is critical to supporting month-end close, budgeting, and cost analysis for a major food processing and distribution facility.

You’ll partner with operations leaders to analyze performance metrics, identify cost-saving opportunities, and translate findings into actionable financial insights. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a manufacturing environment and enjoys working closely with operations to drive efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and overhead expense analysis
  • Maintain and update standard cost and inventory systems to ensure accurate financial data
  • Gather and analyze cost changes across raw materials, labor, overhead, and manufacturing methods
  • Conduct pricing analysis and support quarterly cost updates
  • Partner with operations teams to monitor performance, identify variances, and quantify cost-saving initiatives
  • Prepare and review GL account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies
  • Support capital budgeting process and special projects, including feasibility studies for new products or processes
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to division leadership and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Cost Accounting
  • 2–4 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (open to 5–7 years)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory control
  • Experience with month-end close and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
  • Ability to work on the production floor and collaborate with operations teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with D365, AS400, and BI tools
  • Familiarity with labor costing analysis, yield performance, and scrap reporting
  • CPA or CPA track preferred
  • Persistence and ability to navigate a fast-paced environment
