Sr. Project Manager – Retail Banking

Overview
The Intersect Group is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to lead our direct client through a transformation of retail bank branches to improve the customer experience. The Project Manager is an essential role in the successful delivery of this initiative and will be asked to perform multiple functions within multiple areas of the program with oversight and delivery responsibility for all the sub-projects within this critical initiative.
 

Responsibilities
  • Define project scope and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with project sponsor, senior management and stakeholders; maintain alignment with leadership and project team throughout the life of the project.
  • Manage multiple cross-functional projects across several business units. Apply a consultative approach to assist with functional, technical, and operational planning and design for the implementation of new systems and/or product enhancements.
  • Understand full scope of effort and develop an effective approach to execute and deliver the project/program in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Comprehend overall project scope and dependencies and how individual project actions or deliverables align to them.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Ensure clear roles/responsibilities are defined, communicated and accepted.
  • Lead and direct the work of others in a matrixed, cross-organizational project team.
  • Adhere to the PMO's strategy, policies and standards 
  • Apply best practice project management methodologies for delivering engagements on-time, on-budget, and to specification
  • Provide transparency and clarity around project status, risks and issues through written and verbal communications and executive level presentations
  • Effectively facilitate cross-functional, technical and business process discussions in a productive manner while not necessarily being the Subject Matter Expert on the topic at hand.
  • Prepare and present steering committee and executive-level materials. 
  • Manage and build relationships with key decision makers from project inception to post-deployment while simultaneously ensuring sponsor and end-user satisfaction
  • Balance delivering results with fostering a collaborative approach while problem solving in a group setting with the project team.
  • Implement, embed and facilitate effective decision-making processes at all levels of the program organization structure
  • Proactively Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Plan, schedule and manage project timelines and milestones using appropriate project portfolio management software, proactively identifying and managing project dependencies and critical path across multiple work streams.
  • Draft and submit project budgets, drive budget approval, track and report actuals and forecasts within approved budget, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues throughout the lifecycle of a project. 
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and work with other department managers to obtain commitments on assignments.
  • Anticipate, respond and communicate project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience leading program/projects is required. This includes:
    • Project planning/scheduling
    • Project controls/monitoring
    • Budget management
    • Building stakeholder relationships
    • Setting and managing customer expectations
    • Issue/Risk management
    • Status reporting & executive presentations
    • Implementation Management
  • Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project as well as other MS Office applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Visio) for reports, analysis, and presentations is required. 
  • Familiar with project portfolio management software 
  • Experience utilizing various project methodologies and practices including waterfall, iterative and Agile practices and methods.
  • Proficiency building and managing large complex project schedules and budgets
  • Banking/Financial Services experience preferred; Investment Banking knowledge a plus
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to obtain, analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources 
  • Experience preferred in leading programs / projects requiring organizational change that utilized industry-leading Organizational Change Management principles.
  • Experience creating project organizational structure that supports optimal project delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence and establish positive working relationships across all levels of throughout the organization
  • Understanding of Business and Technical change management concepts
  • Understanding of Business Analysis concepts with experience in requirements definition, gap analysis and UAT
  • Outstanding organizational and effective time management skills
  • Possess excellent executive-level presentation skills
  • Outstanding verbal presentation and written communication skills
  • Proven track record driving for results while working in a collaborative team environment
  • Detail-oriented with a proven history as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
