A well-established public sector organization is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join their team. The organization values integrity, transparency, and service excellence, and plays a key role in supporting local community needs through financial stewardship and regulatory compliance.
 
This is a frontline administrative role suited for candidates looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional and civic-focused environment. The successful candidate will manage daily cashiering activities, respond to public inquiries, and support routine administrative and clerical functions. You’ll interact directly with citizens regarding tax-related questions, process a moderate volume of financial transactions, and help maintain accurate records—making a direct impact on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Process daily payments over the counter and online, handling approximately 20–40 transactions per day.
  • Accept and record payments primarily via check and credit card; minimal cash handling required.
  • Respond to citizen phone inquiries related to business license taxes, refuse fees, utility user tax, and similar municipal charges.
  • Support administrative tasks including filing, application processing, and ledger reconciliation.
  • Navigate multiple software systems to input, retrieve, and process financial and account information accurately.
  • Provide excellent frontline service while maintaining data accuracy and organizational compliance.

 
Key Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of administrative, cashiering, or clerical experience in a public-facing role.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience using financial or cashiering software; familiarity with Tyler Munis or Rams Waste is a plus.
  • Prior experience working in a government or municipal agency is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately handle transaction processing.
  • Comfortable learning new systems and adapting to multiple software platforms.
  • Clear and professional communication skills when interacting with the public and internal teams.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage repetitive tasks with consistency and care.
