Role Summary
The Payroll Analyst will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing for a large, multi-state organization. This position will partner closely with payroll leadership and cross-functional teams to support daily payroll operations, tax compliance, and process improvements.
In this role, you will be responsible for validating payroll data, reconciling tax accounts, troubleshooting discrepancies, and enhancing payroll system functionality. The ideal candidate thrives in a remote environment, is highly self-motivated, and demonstrates both analytical strength and exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Support accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Verify, validate, and reconcile payroll tax applications and filings.
- Research and interpret new payroll tax requirements; recommend process improvements to maintain compliance.
- Assist in setting up new company locations, including registration with local agencies and payroll tax obligations.
- Reconcile biweekly payroll with quarterly filings and ensure data integrity.
- Partner with Accounting and Finance to reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Collaborate with HR and IT to optimize Kronos timekeeping and ADP Enterprise configurations.
- Perform audits to support SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries from employees and stakeholders.
- Manage payroll inbox communications and support ad hoc payroll projects as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of payroll and payroll tax experience in a multi-state environment.
- Hands-on experience with Kronos and ADP Enterprise (version 5 or 6) required.
- Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax regulations, including wage garnishments and filings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word for data analysis and reporting.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and payroll accounting principles.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
