A nationally recognized organization in the foodservice and distribution industry is seeking a seasoned Sales and Use Tax Manager to lead its indirect tax operations. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end sales and use tax compliance process across multiple divisions. You will lead a team of tax accountants, manage the configuration and maintenance of the OneSource tax engine, and ensure timely and accurate filings. Your expertise will be critical in identifying process improvements, supporting audits, and providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders. This is a high-visibility role that combines leadership, technical tax knowledge, and strategic thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly close process for sales and use tax within a 5-day window.
- Supervise and mentor a team of Sales and Use Tax Accountants, fostering professional growth.
- Manage and maintain the OneSource Indirect Tax engine, including configuration and content updates.
- Oversee day-to-day sales tax operations and ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
- Conduct research on complex tax issues and support audit activities.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and tax filings.
- Collaborate with accounting and business units to improve data quality and support growth initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA license required.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, including 4+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Hands-on experience with OneSource Indirect Tax or similar tax engines.
- Strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations, preferably within the foodservice industry.
- Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed to meet departmental demands.
